In June 2024, we successfully completed a shipment of API 5L PSL1 Grade B Spiral Welded Steel Pipe (SSAW) to Australia.
First, these spiral welded steel pipes are thoroughly and meticulously inspected to ensure that their dimensions and properties fully comply with the relevant requirements of API 5L PSL1 Grade B.
After passing the inspection, the pipe is sent to the coating shop for the next step. The outer surface of the steel pipe needs to be coated with an epoxy zinc-rich coating of at least 80 um. Prior to coating production, the surface of the steel pipe is cleaned of impurities and floating rust using a shot blasting process, and the depth of the anchor grain is controlled between 50 -100 um to ensure that the final coating can be firmly bonded to the surface of the steel pipe.
Waiting for the coating to fully cure, the appearance of the coating is smooth and flat without any defects. Measure the thickness of the coating, the result shows that the thickness is over 100 um, which exceeds the customer's requirement of coating thickness. The steel pipe is externally tied with a crash rope to minimize damage to the coating during shipment and transportation.
The sizes of this batch of steel pipes range from 762 mm to 1570 mm. By optimizing the use of space in the container and putting the large pipe inside the small pipe, we successfully helped the customer to save the number of containers used, reduce the transportation cost, and improve the overall efficiency of the customer.
During the shipment process, our professional team carefully arranged and supervised every step of the process to ensure that the coatings and tubes were not damaged and that the specification quantities were in line with the defined program.
